Jenna WaltersAge 5. Running. Running. Running. Fall. Running. Running. I was running back home to show my mommy the flowers I picked for her. She loved daisies. I got back to the house and threw my shoes of at the front door and wiped the dirt off my knees and dress that I was wearing before skipping into the house. She was reading a book. Her favorite one. Wuthering Heights. It was a big book. I didn't understand how she could read it so fast. I jumped onto her lap and she put the book down looking at me threw her glasses.
"Mommy!" I said with a smile. "Hey baby, what do you have there?" She asked. "It's a surprise cause you like surprises." I said giggling. "Yes I do. Do you want me to close my eyes?" She asked laughing at my behavior. "Yeah. You have to! Close your eyes." I said putting one of my hands over her eyes. "Okay." She said puting both of her hands over her eys. I took mine off and put the daisy's in a pile on her lap. "Now you can look!" I said moving around. "Oh these are beautiful! Thank you! I think i'll put them in the vase." She said smiling at me with them in her hand. "I knew you'd like them, daddy says daisies are your favorite so I found some daisie's!" I said putting my hands on my cheeks smiling the whole time. "Remind me to thank daddy when he gets home. You should probably go wash your hands and get ready. Dinner will be ready soon." She said picking me up and putting me on the floor.
I ran out of the room and up the stairs into my room. I couldn't wear a dirty dress to dinner. No. That was bad. I threw my dress off and ran into the bathroom and started a bubble bath. See mommy taught me when I was four and now I was five so that meant I was a big girl and could start my baths all by myself. I looked at the bubbles as they started fill up and giggled clapping my hands. I stopped the water when it got to the perfect spot and jumped in making a big splash. I played with my dolls for a bit then went to washing my body. There was a spot on my leg from where I fell and I started to wash the dirt off. I frowned realising the spot wasn't coming off. I got out of the bath and let the water drain and grabbed my towel and ran back into my room. I grabbed a new dress and threw it on and ran down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Mommy!" I called. She was at the oven putting the dinner on plates. "Can you put these on the table please baby?" She asked. "Sure." I said with a shrug and put the plates on my toy cart and rolled them over to the table and placed them up there. I put the cart back in my kid kitchen and walked upto my mom. "Thank you baby. Now what do you need?" She asked looking at me. "Well you see I ran home today to give you the daisies cause they're your favorite and I fell so when I was upstairs I took a bath and wiped off all the dirt but the dirt wouldn't come off right here." I said pointing to the spot just below my knee. "Well that is strange come up here let me see." She said picking me up and putting me on the counter. I swung my legs back and forth as she looked at them. "So what's wrong with it?" I said touching her hair. "I'm not sure. We'll ask the doctor tomorrow at your check up okay?" she asked. "Do I get a lollipop afterwards?" I asked smiling. "Maybe if you behave." She said. "I can behave!" I said clapping. "Well good, then you might get your lollipop." She said kissing my nose. I laughed and kissed her on her nose.
-------- "Where are my two favorite girls?" I heard "Daddy!" I said jumping down from the counter and out to the living room. "Hi sweetie. What did you do today?" He asked picking me up. "I got lots of flowers for mommy!" I said smiling at him. "Daisies right?" He asked. "Yes. Mommy don't forget to say thank you!" I called into the kitchen. She walked out of the kitchen and smiled at my dad before kissing him on the lips. I made a face. "That's nasty." I said wiggling out of my dad's grip. "I don't think it's nasty. Do you think it's nasty Kathy?" My dad asked letting me go. "No do you think it's nasty Tyler?" She asked. "Nope." He said with a smile. "Well I do. Dinner's ready it can't get cold!" I snapped grabbing both of their arms and dragging them into the kitchen.
We sat at the table and ate the dinner my mommy prepared. Steak, mashed potatoes and brocoli. My favorite. We ate and talked the whole time. I loved my mommy and daddy. They were so much fun. After we finished dinner my daddy got the ice cream out and made an ice cream sundae for me while we watched Alice in Wonderland. After the movie ended my daddy took me to bed and read me a story. Cinderella because that's the best one ever. I put on my pajamas and got back onto my bed. I kissed my daddy's head after he kissed mine and got tucked into bed.I fell asleep minutes after the door was closed. I didn't know that day was the day that changed everything.

Jenna WaltersAge 10 Jete. Point. Jete. Point. Chasse. Point. Jete. Ballet was my life. I've been doing it since I was five. My mom usually found me dancing around in my room and when I turned five I knew ballet was something I should try. It was fun. I lived and breathed it. You're probably wondering what happened when I went to my check up when I was five. Well the doctor said it was nothing. I shouldn't worry about it. I should just stop running around all the time. I looked at my ballet teacher as she told us to do another point and then another chasse. We were going over the steps to our recital this friday. I was beyond excited. I did a quick flic - flac and then another before doing a spin.
"That's the end of today's class everyone. We'll see you on friday. Remember hair up in a bun." She said pointing at two girls in a corner. I giggled before taking a seat on the ground and pulling my hair out of the bun. "How'd you do today baby?" I heard when I looked up I saw my mom. "I did great, or I think I did." I said standing up quickly. "Mrs. Walters, Can I talk to you for a moment?" I heard my teacher Miss Jane say to my mom. "Sure. Here Jenna go put your stuff in the car and get buckled in." She said giving me the car keys. "Okay mom. Bye Miss Jane!" I said waving grabbing my bag and running outside.
I unlocked the car and threw my bag in the back before taking my seat next to it. I put my mom's keys on her seat and buckled in. I sat there paitently waiting for my mom before I heard her door open. She buckled into her seat and smiled looking back at me. It wasn't her normal smile though, She looked somewhat sad. I frowned. What happened? She turned on the car and started to drive home.
"Mom? What did Miss Jane want to talk about?" I asked playing with her hair. "Don't worry about it." She said quickly. "Was it about my dancing?" I asked "Jenna Elizabeth Walters. I said don't worry about it." She snapped at me. "Sorry." I said letting go of her hair and sinking back into my seat.
I felt the car stop and quickly unbuckled and ran into the house leaving my bag in the car. I ran into my room and jumped on my bed. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and walked over to my closet to change into some shorts and a t-shirt. I pulled my shirt on and then grabbed my shorts before scowling. They were falling off. I ran down the stairs with my hands around my shorts and into the kitchen.
"Mom my shorts are falling off." I snapped at her. She was on the phone and glared at me before hanging up. "What's wrong?" She asked looking at me. "My shorts are falling off." I said glaring at her. "I just bought these for you last week." She said shaking her head and looking at them. "Well did you buy the wrong size?" I asked frowning. "No. You're a size six and that's what I got you." She said. "Well then why is it falling down?" I cried. "I don't know. We're going to the doctors." She said grabbing her keys. "But I don't want to!" I cried. "Jenna, get in the car, you are losing weight and I don't know why." She said. "Fine." I said walking over to the car.
I closed the door loudy and layed down in the backseat glaring at my mother the whole time. I didn't like the doctors. They were mean. I felt my eyes start to close and I sighed in contentment. I felt my body being picked up and I groaned lifting my head up and opening my eyes. When did we get here? I wiggled out of my mom's hold and walked slowly beside her. We went into the office and I sat down on the ground and made circles around me. The doctor and my mom talked for a few minutes in private. I didn't even know why I was here. I felt fine. I got up when my mom told me to come into the doctor's office.
"Your mom has expressed some concern so i'm just gonna take some blood samples and you can go on your way home." He said smiling at me. "But I don't want you to take my blood!" I screamed. "Jenna, stop it." My mother told me holding my arm out for him. "No! I want daddy!" I screamed kicking her. "Jenna, when we get home. No movie or book." She snapped as the needle went into my arm. I let out a cry and tears cascaded down my face. I crossed my arms against my chest and glared at the floor. "I'm telling daddy." I mumbled running out of the room and going towards the car.
I got in the car and kicked the front seat glaring the whole time. I wanted my daddy. My mom got in the car and drove as back home. I saw my daddy's truck so when the car stopped I jumped out of the car and ran into the house and into his arms. He looked at me and frowned before sitting down. I curled up in his arms as he played with my hair and then I saw my mom come in. She frowned looking at my dad and waved him over to her. He kissed me on the head and they walked into the kitchen to talk. I walked over to the kitchen and eavesdropped on their conversation. I wanted to know what was so important. I heard them whispering about something weird. I ran upto my room before they could come out and see me. I heard one of them walking up the stairs and I stared at my dad.
"Daddy." I said softly as he walked over to me. "Yeah?" He asked giving me a pained expression. "What's Leukemia?" I asked with a frown. "Don't worry about it." He said kissing my head. "That's what mommy said earlier." I said frowning. Why wouldn't they tell me?
