Kendall.
I walked out of the room after celebrating with the other contestants and headed down the hallway to the lobby. The contestants from the remaining rooms were all gathered in there, hugging one another. Some crying and some smiling.
I spotted Crystal standing off to the side, wiping away tears and hurried over to her.
"Are you staying?" I asked, grabbing her arm and looking at her.
"Yes!" She nodded.
"Me too!" I squealed.
I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tightly as I allowed a few tears to fall. It finally hit me that I was so close to making it to the Top 24 and maybe I could do this. All the doubt I had this morning was wearing off a bit. Obviously the judges saw something in me and I was determined to do this. I was determined to make my dreams come true.
"Was Lee in your room?" I asked, pulling out of her grasp and looking around the crowded room.
"Yeah." She smiled.
I bit my bottom lip and smiled. I had no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't be safe, but just to hear it made me happy. I knew he wanted this just as much as me and to have a good friend with me here is really awesome.
"Go find your man! I need to call my boyfriend and tell him the great news." She smiled, patting my shoulder.
"He's not my man." I corrected, rolling my eyes and nudging her.
"Whatever you say."
I smiled and rolled my eyes as she walked out of the room, pulling her cellphone out. I pushed through the crowded lobby, looking around for Lee. People were all over hugging and crying. Some who have moved on and some who haven't.
A smile spread across my face as I saw Lee standing off in the corner. I rushed over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist, hugging him tightly. I caught him off gaurd and nearly knocked him over.
"Whoa! Easy there!" He laughed, wrapping his arm around me.
"Crystal told me you made it and I made it too! Lucky you, you get to deal with me for a while longer." I smiled.
"I am pretty lucky," He grinned, rubbing my back, "And didn't I tell you not to be worried? I knew you were going to make it. Once again I was right and you were wrong."
"Oh shut up!" I laughed softly.
"Well, well, well. Looks like somebody got lucky and made it."
I rolled my eyes and turned around. Ashley and a few of her friends were standing there, eyeing me up and down. It felt like something out of the movie Mean Girls and it was actually almost comical at how immature this girl was. I felt like I was back in high school being picked on for my quirky outfit or because I was dating the boy that the popular girl liked. It was really ridiculous, but I had to laugh to myself at the immaturity level this girl had. She is 22 and acts like she is 14.
"I guess I did get lucky. You better watch out though because I'm going to kick your ass in this competition." I said, "You haven't seen anything yet honey!"
I don't know where that came from, because I am the least confident person when it comes to my singing. It just came out and in all honestly I was kinda proud of myself for finally standing up for myself. Now, I just had to make it further then here because I would have embarassed myself if I just said all that and ended up being beat by her.
"We'll see about that. I'll let you two get back to whatever you dorks were talking about."
"Thanks." I smiled.
I turned my attention back to Lee and he smiled and shook his head.
"She called us dorks. I'm really hurt by the comment." I said sarcastically.
"I must say, I am pretty shocked that you actually stood your ground. I didn't think you had it in you."
"I've been dealing with her bullshit for nearly two weeks and I am getting sick of it. Everyone has a breaking point and I haven't even reached mine yet. That was nothing DeWyze, you'll be surprised when I do finally tell her off." I said.
"You got a fiesty side to you. I'm kinda liking this." He grinned.
---------
I was in Lee's room later that night. He was laying on his bed, watching tv. I walked over to his guitar that was placed in the corner of the room. I picked it up and walked over to his bed, sitting next to him and resting the guitar in my lap.
"Do you play?" He asked.
"A little. My dad plays and taught me when I was thirteen. I haven't play in a while, I perfer playing piano." I said.
"And to think I thought you were just a big voice."
"I dabble a bit." I smiled.
"Did you bring your guitar with you?" He asked, sitting up.
"No."
"If we both you make it, you better bring it next time. We can jam together." He said.
"I'm not that good. You'll have to teach me some things." I said, looking down at his guitar and strumming it.
"Play something." He said.
"Taylor Swift okay?" I grinned.
"Taylor Swift?" He laughed softly and I smacked his chest lightly.
"She's awesome! I saw her in concert with a few of my friends and sisters and she was really good. Hate all you want, but I will drag you with me next time and you can witness it." I said.
"She's easy on the eyes. I'll go." He grinned, "Now play something. I wanna hear it!"
I rolled my eyes and started playing the beginning chords to Taylor Swift's White Horse.
Say you're sorry, that face of an angel
Comes out just when you need it to
As I paced back and forth all this time
Cause I honestly believed in you
Holding on, the days drag on
Stupid girl, I should have known
I should have known
I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood, this is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it's too late for you and your white horse, to come around
Baby I was naive, got lost in your eyes
And never really had a chance
I had so many dreams about you and me
Happy endings, now I know
I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood, this is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it's too late for you and your white horse, to come around
And there you are on your knees
Begging for forgiveness, begging for me
Just like I always wanted but I'm so sorry
Cause I'm not your princess, this ain't a fairytale
I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well
This is a big world, that was a small town
There in my rearview mirror disappearing now
And its too late for you and your white horse
Now its too late for you and your white horse, to catch me now
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
Try and catch me now
Oh, it's too late to catch me now
I finished the song off and pushed the guitar off my lap and onto the bed.
"Pretty impressive. You should definately break out the guitar on the stage."
"If I make it further into the competition, say like Top five maybe I will. I just want to get comfortable playing." I said.
"You're a really talented girl." Lee smiled.
"You're pretty talented yourself." I said.
"I hope we both make it tomorrow." He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me to his body.
I nodded and wrapped my arm around his stomach, hugging him to me.
"Me too. I'll miss my cuddle buddy if you go or I go." I said.
"You gotta promise me that you will come out to Chicago and visit me during the break for the show."
"Only if you come to Savannah and visit me. It's only fair." I said, looking into his gorgeous blue eyes.
"Deal." He nodded.
I smiled and closed my eyes as I rested my head on his chest. I was falling hard and fast for him.
