Kendall.
We have been back in Los Angeles for a few days and things between Lee and me were civil. We made small talk when we had to and were cordial to one another, but we kept our distance. It was a little awkward, but everyday it was getting easier and easier to deal with.
It was monday afternoon and I was at lunch with my cousin Alex, my Uncle David, and my Aunt Karen, who flew in from Georgia, for this weeks show.
"So, how is everything going back home? I've talked to my mom and sisters everyday and they keep assuring me that everything is fine, is it?" I asked, as I lifted my glass of water and took a sip.
"Everything is fine. It's not a easy thing your mom is going through, but everything is okay." My aunt responded.
"No offense Alex and Uncle David, but boys are pretty much a waste of time." I said.
"I tell Jen this all the time, and I am going to tell you this now. You don't need a boyfriend and you don't need to be crying over any guy. They are stupid at your age and Lee will realize what he is missing and he will be coming back to you in no time." My uncle stated.
"I won't get that carried away," I smiled, "I've been screwed over by a lot of people recently. Friends, boyfriends, fathers."
"You can't catch a break kid, but just go and do your thing. For all those people who screwed you over, there are a million more who are rooting for you and love you. Don't let the negative cancel the positive out." My aunt said, reaching over and placing her hand on top of mine, "Do you know how many people are rooting for you, not only in Savannah, but the whole state of Georgia. Everywhere we go there are signs with your face on it and you can even buy Vote for Kendall tee-shirts."
"My mom was telling me. That's honestly insane." I shook my head in disbelief, that people outside my circle of friends and family are supporting me. People I don't even know.
"When you come back home for the hometown visits in the Top 3, it is going to be insane." She smiled.
"Let's not jump to the gun. It's only top 9." I laughed.
"Believe me the whole country loves you, you will be there." My aunt nodded, and squeezed my hand.
"Now, when am I going to meet this Lee kid?" Alex asked, changing the subject.
"Never." I laughed softly.
I was going to keep Alex far away from Lee. Alex was like a big brother to my sisters and me and he has always been protective over us. I was scared to bring him around Lee, especially because he is much bigger then him and there is no say what he will do or say. No way was he going to meet my ex.
"I'll behave myself. I've seen the goof on tv and I must say, the dude can sing his ass off, but I just wanna have a talk with him and see why he hurt my baby cousin."
"You will not be talking to him about anything. It's over and we're cool." I said, tucking my hair behind my ear and smiling.
"Well, if you need someone to kick his a$$ I will do that." Alex answered.
"Thanks Al. I can always count on you." I laughed, reaching over and patting his shoulder.
"Do I know you from somewhere?"
I glanced up from talking to Alex and saw a young guy standing near the table, he must have been in his twenties and he was with two other guys around the same age.
"Um. Maybe." I smiled.
"You're the hot chick on American Idol!" The other guy, with blonde hair answered, "My sister watches the show and she is in love with you."
"Aw. That's really sweet." I smiled.
"Dude, this girl you are calling hot is my little cousin. She's not some piece of meat, so stick your eyes back in your head and walk away." Alex said, they all stepped back a bit.
"Alex," I turned and shot him a look, before looking back at the guys, "I'm sorry. He's just a little crazy."
"Can we get a picture with you?" The third guy asked.
"Sure." I nodded.
I stood up from my chair and they handed the camera to my aunt. I stood in the middle of them and placed my arms around their waste, as my aunt snapped a picture.
"Thanks." The first guy spoke.
"No problem. Throw some votes my way this week." I teased.
"Definately. My sister votes like forty times for you every week, she's only ten, but she idolizes you already." The blonde said.
"That is really sweet and tell her I said hi and to keep voting." I smiled.
"We're rooting for you." The third guy said.
"Thanks so much! I love you guys!" I gave them each a quick hug, "I appreciate it so much."
They all walked said goodbye and walked off. I sat back down at the table and smiled.
"And you're worried that you aren't going to make it far." My uncle laughed.
"Horny guys who wanna get in her pants. You need to tell them to back off a bit, they were totally checking you out." Alex scoffed.
"And they were cute, so if they wanted to look I don't care." I shrugged, "I love all my fans and if I could sign for all of them and thank them personally I would. I still find it crazy that people actually know who I am."
"I think you should stop wearing those tiny dresses when you are performning and throw on some sweats." Alex suggested.
"Oh gosh Alex." I sighed.
"You're becoming a superstar Kendall." My uncle smiled.
"I'm far from that, but it's cool to be noticed." I said.
Meeting people that actually liked what I was doing, is insane. I pinch myself everyday because this all seems like such a dream. I'll take all this negative stuff I am going through for this. It's an amazing experience and even with all this drama, I wouldn't change it for the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I walked into the apartment, after lunch. Katie and her mom, Clara, were sitting in the living room, watching tv. I walked in the room and dropped my purse on the chair and smiled when I saw a vase of flowers sitting on the coffee table.
"Oh. Who's the boy who sent you flowers?" I asked, walking over towards the table to get a better look at them, "They are so pretty! I love Gerbera daisies."
"Good, because they are for you." Katie smiled.
"What?" I asked, looking up at her.
Katie grabbed the small card out of the vase and handed it to me. I looked down at the small card and my stomach dropped, when I saw Lee's name at the bottom of it.
"Are you kidding me? He seriously sent me flowers." I scoffed, tossing the card back on the table, "You can keep them if you want. They aren't really my favorite anymore."
"Kendall, I am not taking the flowers back that your ex-boyfriend sent you." Katie laughed.
"Why is he doing this?" I asked.
"Sometimes you don't realize what you have until you lose it." Clara said.
"What should I do?" I asked, plopping down on the couch between Clara and Katie, "I mean I obviously still have feelings for him, but I am so tired of Lee drama."
"I personally think you two belong together. I think that Lee is in love with you and he realizes that now, since you two broke up he has not been the same, funny and happy Lee. " Katie said, as she gave me a small smile, "I believe that you two will eventually find your way back to one another."
"Maybe you should go and have dinner with him or something and talk over everything, like the two adults you are." Clara suggested.
"Yeah, especially becuase you two are ignoring one another like two kids when you are in the same room. Maybe you need to talk and not run from your problems." Katie smiled.
"I just don't wanna be hurt again." I said softly.
"He's not going to hurt you again." Katie said.
"Just go and talk to him." Clara smiled and patted my back.
"I guess I will eventually have to." I smiled.
"And your second mom and me will be here for you." Katie said.
"I'll talk to him after tomorrow, I can't focus on the Lee drama right now. I need to just focus on tomorrow and then worry about him." I said, "Gosh, why does he have to be so hot and have this hold over me? I hate boys and the stupid games they play!"
Katie and Clara laughed.
I don't know what I was going to do. This whole thing was just frusterating.
